so all thanks to the very nice, lovely and gorgeous DANNY BLANDY,

we got passes to the SPECTOR gig in KL as well!! :DD

was in KL for a quick getaway for the weekend
and it was that same weekend when SPECTOR was gonna play - i call it fate ha ha

im gonna go easy on the text as i was so close to the stage that evening and managed some realy good shots!!

KYLE PATRICK

YES! our favourite snackdragon kyle ‘singapore’s permenant resident’ patrick was spotted in SINGAPORE!

KYLE IS STILL IN SINGAPORE, GUYS!!

kyle was at avalon at the spector’s gig when we spotted kyle at one of the tables there! #cheapthrill

snapped that photo above and we chatted for a while.

I asked if he already had applied for the permanent residency in singapore, and he said that he’d love to! HA HA!!

seriously, I find it super funny how in love he is with our country that he is still here after close to TWO MONTHS in SOUTH EAST ASIA, seeing as he opened for the wanted late last month.. heh heh

anyways, he did mention that he was gonna leave singapore soon but not sure when..

SO GLAD WE FINALLY BUMPED INTO HIM!! :P

so, people.. OPEN YOUR EYES as you might just bump into kyle on the streets of singapore as well!! HA HA!

no autographs from the snackdragon as it was really really unpredicted but at least we got some dimples to keep in our memory.. :P

SPECTOR

so, after the SPECTOR gig, thanks to the ever-nice people at universal music singapore..

we met the band in an exclusive meet and greet with the band!

they are a bunch of funny, crazy and random guys, no kidding.
thinking about what had happened still made me L O L!!
yes, THAT funny!

to the point where even as we were trying to snap a picture,
they can come up with funny remarks!!

THOMAS SHICKLE
BASS

THOMAS SHICKLE was the first one i went to, i told him i liked his blonde hair.
he said he just had it dyed just before asia and that he liked my spiky hair-do – well, thank you! :P
then we took a picture, he realised i was doing a self-shot and he was too tall..
‘ahhh that’s my cue to bend down!’ – HA HA!!
then he proceeded on to sign some autographs for me and then he passed it on to the next one.


JED CULLEN
SYNTH/GUITAR

next it was JED CULLEN – looked really confused like he didn’t know what to do, so i signalled to him to sign..
then he was trying to talk and sign at the same time..
problem was – he could not multi-task! HA HA!
he was trying to REMEMBER how to sign while holding that conversation!

HA HA!

then we took the picture..
after the photo was being snapped, he said he wanted to have a look.
and so i showed him the photo and asked is it was okay..
he looked like he wanted to say something but gave up along the way (HA HA!)
and so i asked if he wanted to take another and he said yes.
we took the second one and he looked a little happier and said ‘okay’..
 

DANNY BLANDY
DRUMS

so during the time when JED and i were snapping photos away, he’d already passed the stuff to be signed onto DANNY BLANDY.
while DANNY was signing the autographs, he mentioned that one of the photo that I’ve printed was the first photoshoot they have ever done and he was obviously signing away heh heh
then we snapped a photo together.
his arms were around my neck and both my arms were in front of me and he asked

‘why would you put your arms around me?’ – AWWWWWW!! :P

and as stunned as i was, i did what i was told ha ha
well.. #cheapthrill!! HA HA!!

CHRIS BURMAN
GUITAR

onto CHRIS BURMAN next, which was a very brief one, i asked for a photo first.
and then I left him to sign for me while i moved along to the next one – FRED MACPHERSON.

the first thing FRED asked me was ‘why do you keep removing your glasses when you’re taking pictures?’
so I told him that i was vain and that i looked better without my glasses – HA HA!
and guess what his response was?

‘i think i look better with my glasses on, like you! we should take two photos together then – one with and one without the glasses!’

and so we did snap two photos together! :D

and here's the other one, both without our glasses on.. heh heh

SPECTOR - LIVE AT AVALON

The up-and-coming indie pop/rock quintet consisting of lead vocalist, FRED MACPHERSON, CHRIS BURMAN on guitars, THOMAS SHICKLE on bass, JED CULLEN on synth and guitars and my personal favourite, drummer, DANNY BLANDY – SPECTOR, popped by our shores for a debut gig at AVALON two thursdays ago!!
honestly, prior to the gig, there was nothing much i know of the band musically as i have only youtube-d their single CHEVY THUNDER and GREY SHIRT AND TIE, and that was it.

i must say i was pleasantly surprised by what i had experienced at the show. clad in nice, pretty suits from TOPSHOP/TOPMAN, the presenter of the gig, the five of them looked suave and gorgeous (yes – im biased!! :P)

fred made random and silly remarks in between the set of 8 songs and it was entertaining and hilarious. he also have some kinda OCD to keep his hair in place and whipping his comb out every now and then to make sure it's in place!! HA HA! and most importantly, these british boys were good-looking – doesn’t get any better than that, does it? have i already mentioned that already? ha ha

one of the things that was really funny was when fred said that since it was the band’s first gig here in singapore, those who were in attendance “could tell your children one day that you were at the first ever SPECTOR gig”.

“and your kids are gonna ask you ‘who the fuck is SPECTOR?’”

and they reminded me a lot like THE KILLERS, musically while appearance wise, BRANDON FLOWERS is better looking ha ha

they are already being ticked as one of the most exciting bands of 2012, the future sure looks bright for these lads from the uk.

they are currently on their own headline tour all across the uk and im also pretty confident that these boys will make their return to our shores sooner than we think, especially so judging from the response of the crowd! :DDD

am I glad to be at the gig? H E L L   Y E A H ! ! ha ha

RUSSIAN RED

we bumped into lourdes hernandez, or more widely known as RUSSIAN RED at ion as she was making her exit from an appearance at {prologue} bookstore where she met and greeted some fans in an intimate setting.

RUSSIAN RED was in town for the fourth instalment of MTV SESSIONS where she did the recording a night before.

if you haven't heard of her before, we'll, pretty sure you'll be hearing a lot from her in the near future me thinks heh 

she was promoting her new album, FUERTEVENTURA, with some very outstanding songs like 'I HATE YOU BUT I LOVE YOU', 'EVERYDAY EVERYNIGHT' and the newer single 'MY LOVE IS GONE'.. 

her music reminds me a little of BIRDY and a little of LANA DEL REY.. y'all should totally take a listen, if you haven't already done so heh

and here's a note from the lady herself..

JAMES MORRISON

it was surprising how i could recognise him from afar and was stunned while he was walking towards me, faced down and when he looked up, he got a little fright as well! HA!

i made him sign some autographs for me – well you gotta be prepared for who is in town and open your eyes when you walk around!! #justsaying

and had a quick chat with him about jakarta, where he played for the first time the night before, ROBIN THICKE, who was also in jakarta playing at the same music fest as he was and how the MTV SESSIONS recording was ‘only a small acoustic gig and the show this time around is the big one’.

so on top of asking for autographs, i, obviously asked for a picture as well! :P
after snapping the first one with him, we looked at it and realised it was a little blurry.

though the encounter was a really brief and quick one, you could tell that he’s a funny and really nice guy.

he asked, “you alright? why you shakin’?’

“do you know what being caught off guard is? THAT WAS!!”, i replied after giving him a light smack on his right arm! HA HA!!

we both laughed and decided we need a second picture, so the one above is the second picture we took.

while this one here, is the blurry/shaky one heh heh

and after the pictures, i decided to let him go do whatever he had planned to and i swear im already looking forward to meeting him again, hopefully, when he returns.. :D

KEANE was back in town as part of the STRANGELAND tour in support of their latest release, their fourth, of the same title!

this marks the band's second visit here in singapore!! and so glad we managed to catch them at their hotel just before they left for soundcheck at the venue they were playing at.. :))

lead singer, tom looked cuter than i could remember - i blame it on his new hairdo though :P richard, the drummer and tim, songwriter of the band + keyboardist looked pretty much the same as a few years ago while it was my first time meeting bassist jesse.. :))

the band is so cool and down to earth despite having such success all over the UK and the world - trust me when i say.. the wannabe bands should take a lesson or two from these successful-bands-without-the-primadonna-attitude heh #justsaying

shame we missed the show but im gonna promise myself that the next KEANE gig, im gonna be in attendance!! :DDD

ROBYN

I  F I N A L L Y   M E T   R O B Y N ! !  

this is possibly robyn’s second or third trip on our shores but we have never met her before..

the very last time she was in town was to promote her album, ROBYN, back in 2007 (or so), she played to a crowd of over 25.

shame shame shame.. but this time around, she stopped by singapore prior to her appearances in Aussieland, to play a one-night only gig at the esplanade in support of her 2010 effort, BODY TALK! :DD

all thanks to the good people at now/live, we met robyn as she pulled over at her hotel upon arriving back onto sing-sing-singapore.. she looked uh-mazing!

and she was really, really nice!!

wished i snapped a picture of the raised platforms she was wearing and she travelled really light, i must say.. heh

we spoke for a while and snapped some photos and she signed some autographs for us :DDD

and here's another photo with the DANCEHALL QUEEN, all in the name of greediness and robyn told me 'it's okay to be greedy!' :P

on that note – robyn did mention something about she WANTS to come back to singapore to play for us in 2013!! (and we even suggested her to play at avalon!! :P)

MAROON 5

all thanks to the singapore grand prix 2012, we got to meet the guys from maroon 5, FOR THE THIRD TIME!!! :DDD

and even bigger thanks to the team at universal music singapore for you-know-what! hee :P

jesse carmichael is on hiatus at the moment and pj morton was in town to fill in that spot and all over as part of the OVEREXPOSED tour..

mickey looked good, or better than the last time as i could remember, this time around with those geeky specs, matt and james looked exactly how i've remembered them to be :)) as for adam.. dont think anything could go wrong with that pretty face.. yes, im biased like that! ha ha :P

anyways it was a quick meet with the band and they are still as nice as i could recall.. except for our diva lead singer.. we spent about 2 minutes speaking with the band and then snapped a couple of shots, and we were out.. heh

glad to have met them nonetheless and i think OVEREXPOSED is a really good record, especially with a pop-pier sound as compared to their SONGS ABOUT JANE era, which was my favourite by the way..

pretty sure adam + co will visit us when they release another album again, and hopefully, jesse will be back in the line up ehh.. :P
